Who runs this?

Dispatch is a student-run project created and managed by Ryan Ellis to help students at school understand the news and revise. Ryan is responsible for the information collected through Dispatch. It is an independent project, not an official school or exam-board service.

You can read the news and study guides without an account. An account is optional and lets you keep your own study space.

What gets saved, and why?

• Your account: first and last name, a generated username, a protected password hash, account permissions and sign-in dates. These make signing in and managing access work. The database does not store your readable password.
• Your studies: courses and target grades you choose, saved articles, personal notes, reading status and whether you completed the welcome tour. These keep your work available when you sign in again.
• AI features, when you use them: questions, submitted answers, feedback and usage counts. Chat and AI answer feedback currently require administrator access.
• Shared content: Weekly Board notes, attachments and published Study Tips are visible to visitors. They are different from your private Vault.
• Technical information: hosting and security services process request details such as IP addresses, device information and errors. Dispatch uses protected identifiers and attempt counts to limit repeated sign-in attempts.
• Feedback: the form opens your email app. A message reaches Ryan only if you send it, and includes your email address and anything you choose to write.

These uses support the features you request, keep the site working and help deal with problems. Dispatch does not sell your information or run advertising profiles.

Who can access it?

Your Vault is not a public profile and other students cannot browse it. Administrators see service totals such as accounts, article saves and AI usage. Ryan and the providers operating the site can have technical access to stored data when managing the service, troubleshooting or handling a request. Private does not mean end-to-end encrypted.

• Vercel hosts the website and handles delivery and technical logs.
• Neon provides the PostgreSQL database for accounts and study work.
• OpenLux routes AI requests to the selected model service. Submitted questions or answers, relevant conversation context and supporting course material are sent for processing. Dispatch does not deliberately add your account name or password to those requests.

These providers may process information in other countries. Their own terms and retention arrangements also apply. Dispatch cannot promise that AI providers keep no copies or never use submissions for their own purposes. Keep personal, confidential and school-restricted information out of AI questions and answers.

Opening a publisher’s article takes you to a separate website with its own privacy and subscription arrangements.

How is information protected?

Dispatch uses HTTPS, hashed passwords and account checks before returning private study data. Database and AI credentials stay on the server. These are practical protections, not a guarantee that any website is risk-free. Use a unique password and sign out on shared devices.

Optional page-speed measurements are off until you enable them. You can manage them on the Cookies & choices page.

How long does it stay?

Account and study information stays in the database until you remove supported items or ask for it to be deleted. There is currently no automatic expiry for inactive accounts, saved work or answer-practice records. You can remove Vault items and clear chat conversations using the site’s controls.

Expired sign-in rate-limit records are cleaned up during later account requests. Hosting logs, provider records and backups follow their providers’ retention arrangements, so removing a live record may not immediately remove every backup copy. Feedback remains in the email conversation while it is needed to deal with your message.

Your information, your choices

You can change your course choices and password in Your account, edit or remove Vault entries, and choose whether to use optional AI features.

For a copy of your information, a correction, account deletion, or a concern about how it is used, email raraexterne@gmail.com. Include your username and what you need. Ryan may ask you to confirm account ownership, but will never need your password. Some choices or deletion requests can mean an account feature stops working.

You can also ask about restricting or objecting to a use, and withdraw an optional permission. Privacy rights and complaint routes depend on the law where you live; you can contact the relevant data-protection authority as well as Ryan. If you need help, ask a parent, guardian or teacher to support your request.

If things change

This page will be updated when the service’s data use changes. A new use that needs your permission will ask for it. The date above shows the latest revision.
